The Long Bright: A Poetry Reading at Friends of the Aiken County Historical Museum, December 9

Date: December 09, 2017

Time: 2:00 pm

David Wolman, local physician assistant and writer, has just published his latest book which is a poetry book entitled, The Long Bright, and he will be there for a relaxing afternoon to meet and greet fellow poetry enthusiasts over wine and hors d’oeuvres and to enjoy some readings of the poetry. Books will be available for him to autograph as well.

The book takes its title from the major work within of the same name, which was written for his first wife, Anni, during her struggles with breast cancer. After her death in 1998, David commissioned a Philadelphia composer to put the poetry to music. The result was a 60 minute oratorio which premiered in Philadelphia with a West Coast premiere in Los Angeles in 2010. Both performances were fund raisers for breast cancer research, and over a million dollars was raised.

The Long Bright is a journey through David’s life over the past 35 years, and includes his photography as well as art work from Anni. It is deeply personal, but uplifting at the same time.
