Aiken City Council asked the Planning Commission to evaluate tree pruning, maintenance standards in the Zoning Ordinance.
A work session is to be held on Tuesday, June 15 at 5:30 p.m. to hear presentations from the South Carolina Forestry Commission. They will receive a presentation on appropriate pruning methods and hear comment from citizens, regarding City pruning standards.
The goal is to make a recommendation to City Council at a subsequent meeting.
The work session will be held on the second floor of the City Council Chambers in the Municipal Building, 214 Park Avenue, SW.
The tree pruning and maintenance standards do not affect single-family dwellings; there are no restrictions on tree pruning on those properties. The current standards are available for review at the City website. Written comments may be submitted on their contact form located on every page of the web site or by regular mail to the Planning Department, P.O. Box 1177, Aiken, 29802, prior to July 2.
