Student May Be Expelled After Punch Sent Another Student to Hospital

A 17-year-old Ashley Ridge High School student was sent to the hospital Monday, after another student punched him in the face. This must have been serious. because the hospital didn’t release him until Wednesday. The hospital told police the boy suffered facial fractures, a broken nose and swelling and bleeding in his brain.

The assailant was reported to be a 16 year old student at the same school.

The 16-year-old, charged with assault and battery and disorderly conduct, may be expelled from the school. He was attending Ashley Ridge after being expelled from Summerville High School because of discipline problems.

The hallways at Ashley Ridge High School are narrow and crowded. Students report that there are collisions in every classroom break. To make the hallway situation worse, there is construction in some areas, which means the crowded hallways are worse than usual.

Apparently, the 17-year old is lightly built, not the kind of student who picks fights, and is white. The much larger 16-year-old is black. None of the reports say race had anything to do with the incident. Apparently the 17-year-old was pushed and stepped on the back of the other student’s shoe. This happens many times every day, due to the overcrowding caused by construction.

Racy Photos Lead Police Officer to Resign

A Moncks Corner police officer has resigned after letting scantily clad women pose on and around his squad car at a charity car wash.

The officer, Brian Hanley, who made the “error in judgment” at the “Tits n Tats” charity wash, says he regrets the action, but does not regret making a donation to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.

The photos, which were posted on Facebook, showcased a multitude of women in  bikinis bent over on his car. One of those women was a Berkeley County sheriff deputy. The deputy was not punished because she was on her own time and wasn’t using any department resources.

The Moncks Corner police chief told the Post and Courier that the officer simply “made a poor decision and resigned on his own.”
